Our Research interests are primarily in the fields of tropical meteorology and climate dynamics. Our work focuses on understanding the fundamental dynamics and physics governing atmospheric motions through observational analysis and numerical modeling, with the ultimate goal of improving our prediction ability.

Some research topics we have been working on recently:

  1. Multi-scale interaction, cloud organization and evolution during tropical cyclone formation

  2. Climate control on tropical cyclone activity

  3. Teleconnection and interaction between tropics and extratropics

  4. Subseasonal to seasonal prediction and predictability

  5. Physics-oriented evaluation of global models
