This talk will focus on the dynamics of a supercell tornado and issues involved with its numerical simulation. The dynamics processes involved in tornado formation require a numerical representation that captures and preserves strong vorticity gradients associated with steady tornado maintenance. An important modeling issue is the representation of turbulence and dynamic balance for which we offer a solutions based on dynamical constraints to the numerical system. We will also explore the dynamic processes which lead to tornado genesis. |
